CBD oil and crystallization: why does it happen and how should you respond?
September 28, 2023Among the many ways to enjoy the potential benefits of CBD is: the patch! And while it's not as popular as oil or flowers, it does offer a number of benefits. In some cases, the CBD patch is the best option available. Find out why.
What is a CBD patch?
A CBD patch is a patch soaked in cannabidiol (CBD) distillate. The distillate is a colorless, odorless liquid containing only CBD. It is obtained from purified hemp extract.
How does it work?
CBD reacts with our endocannabinoid system via receptors located on the skin's surface, the TRPVs. These receptors are involved in nociceptive mechanisms, i.e., nerve messages linked to the sensation of pain.
In other words, the transepidermal administration of CBD reduces the intensity of pain. And to reinforce this action, the patch is designed to diffuse CBD gradually and continuously. A patch can take effect for 8 to 12 hours, depending on the dose of CBD, which varies between 15 and 30 mg/patch.
Simply apply the patch to the painful area. If the pain doesn't subside, then it 's possible to combine its use with another CBD-containing product such as an oil, as long as the daily dose doesn't exceed 1500 mg.
Applications and uses
Because of its action on TRPV receptors, the CBD patch is particularly useful in cases of targeted pain. It can help people suffering from :
- Rheumatism, arthritis and osteoarthritis;
- Or muscle soreness caused by intense physical activity.
It may also be suitable for people who want to enjoy the potential relaxing benefits of CBD but don't want to vapourize or smoke, and who don't like the taste of hemp.
However, although the patch offers better bioavailability than an orally consumed product, it is far more effective in treating targeted pain than in inducing a state of relaxation.
Do CBD patches really work?
According to several studies, in the treatment of pain, CBD administered transepidermally is just as effective as CBD administered orally, if not more so. In fact, this method of consumption avoids the degradation of CBD by the liver, thus increasing its bioavailability.
However, some people are more sensitive to cannabinoids than others. As a result, the CBD patch may offer excellent results for some, and be disappointing for others.
What's more, a product's effectiveness depends largely on its quality.
Nobilis-Product patches contain a premium CBD distillate, produced in a French laboratory from organic biomass (hemp flowers) grown in northern France.
We provide laboratory analysis results to guarantee the CBD content of our patches (20 mg) and the absence of any potentially harmful substances.
The 3 advantages of the CBD patch
#1. Ease of use
Whereas most products, such as CBD oil, require a specific dosage, as well as a certain regularity in terms of intake times, the CBD patch is pre-measured and designed to take effect all day (or all night).
In practical terms, it couldn't be simpler: simply apply the patch to the painful area to benefit from its long-lasting action.
#2. Target the pain
CBD owes its pain-relieving action to its particular affinity with TRPV receptors, which are located in the epidermis. As a result, the best way to benefit from its potential anti-inflammatory virtues is via the skin.
The CBD patch is therefore very useful in cases of targeted pain! It can potentially help with localized back pain, tendonitis, muscle soreness and so on.
#3. Continuous action
One of the great advantages of the patch is, of course, its continuous action. On the one hand, it's practical, because you don't need to renew your patch during the day, but it also means you can enjoy its pain-relieving action at night!
The CBD patch helps you get back to quality sleep if it's disturbed by pain.
Precautions for use
As you can see, the CBD patch has many advantages. One of them is its ease of use, but here are a few precautions to bear in mind:
- If possible, avoid joints and prefer areas where the skin is thin and free of irregularities;
- Do not use the patch on irritated or injured areas;
- Ask your doctor for advice if you are undergoing treatment;
- Finally, this product is not recommended for pregnant or breast-feeding women, or for minors.
