It has been known since the 1990s that CBD binds to a specific set of receptors (the endocannabinoid system) whose purpose is to promote an optimal overall state of equilibrium known as "homeostasis."[1] CBD is also known for its ability to stimulate the body ' s immune system.
Although research is still in its early stages, some studies already show that CBD has potential tranquilizing properties.
One of them followed 72 adults with anxiety treated with CBD oil. After 8 weeks, scientists observed an improvement in anxiety disorders in nearly 80% of patients. [2]
A meta-analysis of 8 scientific studies concluded that CBD has a significant and substantial impact on generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), social anxiety disorder (SAD) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). [3]

CBD and mental health: how does it work?
Chronic stress and anxiety are both characterized by hormonal imbalance.
According to some scientific publications, CBD may regulate the secretion of two key hormones.
- Cortisol is responsible for symptoms associated with chronic stress such as mental fogginess, difficulty in decision-making and planning. Thanks to its action on the endocrine system, CBD could help reduce levels of the stress hormone in the blood. It could thus promote a state of mental clarity;
- To treat anxiety, specialists can prescribe serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), which increase serotonin levels in the blood and promote a state of serenity. The problem is that this type of treatment comes with side effects and can induce dependence. CBD, thanks to its action on the central nervous system (brain), is capable of acting on the happiness hormone and promoting its secretion. It could induce a notable state of tranquility, without undesirable effects or dependence.
CBD doesn't inhibit, it regulates. Its action is long-term.

Which CBD oil helps reduce stress and anxiety?
There are two main families of CBD oils. Both can be effective, however, it's good to know the difference to choose the one that's right for you:
- Full spectrum" CBD oil contains all the molecules derived from hemp flowers. This means that they contain traces of THC (less than 0.3%), without causing any psychotropic effects;
- Broad spectrum" CBD oil contains all the molecules except THC, which is completely removed (0% guaranteed).
We recommend the full-spectrum oil, as its formula is faithful to the natural composition of hemp. Moreover, according to the entourage effect theory, this type of CBD product is more effective.
What form of CBD is most effective?
Oils, candies, herbal teas... CBD products that help reduce stress and anxiety come in all shapes and sizes! But which is the most effective?
🥇CBD oil is rapidly absorbed by the mucous membranes of the mouth and only partially degraded by the liver. It therefore offers excellent bioavailability, making it the best product of all.
🥈CBD candies are very convenient, as they come pre-measured. However, they are digested, which slightly reduces their effectiveness. They are recommended for people with mild to moderate stress and anxiety.
🥉As for herbal teas, their effect is very limited, as they generally contain very few active molecules. What's more, for the body to absorb them, you need to add a little fat to the infusion, which isn't to everyone's taste!

The best way to take CBD oil is sublingually: place a few drops under the tongue and let the mucous membranes absorb the active molecules. In this way, you benefit from optimal bioavailabilityas you avoid the degradation of cannabinoids by the liver.
The number of drops depends on the CBD concentration of the oil.
10% oil = 5 mg CBD/drop
Oil 20% = 10 mg CBD/drop
Oil 30% = 15 mg CBD/drop.
Next, you should know that it is generally recommended to start with 0.5 mg CBD / kg body mass. That's 25 mg if you weigh 50 kg.
Please note that this calculation is for guidance only. If you don't feel any effect after a few days, then you can gradually increase the dose, in increments of 2 drops every 3 to 5 days. If you reach a dose of more than 10 drops/day, we recommend you choose a more concentrated CBD oil.
CBD oil can help you get through a stressful event.
But to feel lasting effects on the symptoms of chronic stress or anxiety, you'll need to wait one or two weeks.
Don't forget that CBD acts deep down, at the root of the problem. You can't just wave a magic wand and rebalance your body!
Cannabinoids take effect after half an hour and remain in the body for around 6 hours.
If you want to reduce your anxiety or chronic stress, we recommend taking your CBD oil two to three times a day, to enjoy continuous effects.
If you want to promote a state of mental clarity before an exam or public speaking engagement, then take a few drops about an hour before the event.
It is not essential, however, some studies show that taking CBD at the same time as consuming foods rich in fatty acids (fish, nuts, avocado, meat, eggs, etc.) promotes better absorption.
No, although full spectrum CBD oil contains traces of THC (the psychoactive molecule in cannabis), it does not cause any kind of hallucination.
In fact, CBD products never contain more than 0.3% THC (the threshold imposed by law). This concentration is insufficient to cause any effect.
