Sleep disorders: the new evil of the century?
In France, it was in 1963 that a doctor first spoke of the extent of sleep disorders. According to him, fragmented time, the multiplication of toxic social interactions and the increase in screen time are the three pillars of poor-quality sleep.
And to think that back then, there was only one small screen for the whole family, no social networks and no telecommuting...
Today, the machine has run out of steam, and the figures are indisputable. According to the Institut du sommeil vigilance, 16% of French people suffer from chronic insomnia, and two-thirds have poor quality sleep.
CBD, a solution for better sleep (and it's proven!)
In the 1990s, scientists discovered that CBD is able to bind to a specific set of receptors known as the "endocannabinoid system". From then on, studies to understand its action within our bodies multiplied.
All agree that CBD acts on our physiological functions to promote a state of homeostasis, a state of optimal balance, synonymous with well-being and good health [1].
More specifically, some studies have focused on the link between CBD and sleep quality.
One study involved twenty-eight participants randomized to receive either oral CBD capsules or a placebo. The scientists concluded that eight weeks of 50 mg CBD daily can improve sleep quality in young, healthy adults [2].
Meanwhile, the results of another study, conducted with 72 participants, show that CBD oil is effective in 66.7% of people suffering from anxiety-related sleep disorders.[3]

CBD and sleep, how does it work?
Health professionals identify at least three causes of insomnia. These may be environmental, physical and/or psychological. CBD could act on several levels on at least two of them.
- On physical causes, such as chronic pain (rheumatism), by regulating the inflammatory response. In fact, CBD could inhibit the action of certain receptors in our brain responsible for the influx of nerve messages linked to the sensation of pain.
- On psychological causes such as stress, anxiety and depression, by regulating the secretion of certain key hormones. Thanks to its action on our endocrine system, CBD is potentially able to act on levels of serotonin, the happiness hormone, as well as cortisol, the stress hormone.
In short, CBD works where you need it. That's why it's potentially effective.

What form of CBD is most effective?
Oils, candies, herbal teas... CBD products that promote sleep come in all shapes and sizes! But which is the most effective?
🥇CBD oil is rapidly absorbed by the mucous membranes of the mouth and only partially degraded by the liver. It therefore offers excellent bioavailability, making it the best product of all.
🥈CBD candies are very convenient, as they come pre-measured. However, they are digested, which slightly reduces their effectiveness. They are recommended for people with mild to moderate sleep problems .
🥉As for herbal teas, their effect is very limited, as they generally contain very few active molecules. What's more, for the body to absorb them, you need to add a little fat to the infusion, which isn't to everyone's taste!

The best way to take CBD oil is sublingually: place a few drops under the tongue and let the mucous membranes absorb the active molecules. In this way, you benefit from optimal bioavailabilityas you avoid the degradation of cannabinoids by the liver.
The number of drops depends on the CBD concentration of the oil.
10% oil = 5 mg CBD/drop
Oil 20% = 10 mg CBD/drop
Oil 30% = 15 mg CBD/drop.
Next, you should know that it is generally recommended to start with 0.5 mg CBD / kg body mass. That's 25 mg if you weigh 50 kg.
Please note that this calculation is for guidance only. If you don't feel any effect after a few days, then you can gradually increase the dose, in increments of 2 drops every 3 to 5 days. If you reach a dose of more than 10 drops/day, we recommend you choose a more concentrated CBD oil.
It depends on the individual. Some people are more sensitive than others.
Generally speaking, although your nights may improve immediately, you'll need to wait one or two weeks before you feel any lasting effects.
Don't forget that CBD acts deep down, at the root of the problem. You can't just wave a magic wand and rebalance your body!
Cannabinoids take effect after half an hour and remain in the body for around 6 hours.
For sleep disorders, we recommend taking CBD oil one hour before bedtime.
Both types of CBD oil can help you rebalance your body and get back to restful sleep.
Nevertheless :
- Full spectrum oil contains traces of THC (less than 0.3%), which is insufficient to cause any psychotropic effects. On the other hand, this may increase the product's effectiveness. In fact, some studies show that full spectrum products are more effective than others, because the hemp molecules act synergistically. This is the "entourage effect" theory.
- Broad spectrum CBD oil contains no THC at all. The entourage effect is a little less favored, however, this product is perfect if you don't wish to consume THC.
No CBD oil causes psychotropic effects.
However, full spectrum CBD oil contains traces of THC (0.3%). If you don't want to consume THC at all, then choose broad spectrum CBD oil.
